An intense 6-month workshop dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of fashion design and sewing techniques.
Sewing is one of the most critical elements in fashion design. Our lessons cover everything from learning how to thread a sewing machine to the construction and completion of a full garment. Students will be introduced to pattern making in design 2.
The students will be exposed to a vast inventory of textiles and trimmings and will have the opportunity to learn the different fabrics and textures for their collection.
Whether you are interested in designing your own collection or working for a company, our sketching lessons will teach you how to manage your collection with a professional presentation and inspirational mood board.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their best work in both of our end of the year fashion shows and photoshoots.
The 6-month workshop is dedicated to teach you the fundamentals of fashion design and sewing techniques.
The program runs from January to June and the student will be incorporated into the second semester of our annual program and will be able to participate in the Annual Program’s end of the year fashion show production.
In order to complete a full design year, the student must follow this course with IOF’s 2-Week Summer Fashion Design Workshop.

The climax of the course is when the students have the opportunity to model their own collection at The Institute of Fashion annual fashion shows held in June including their award ceremony.
